About the quartet

Once upon a time - not so long ago - in a galaxy - not so far away - four fearless string players found their perfect match, without the help of Tinder or other AI algorithms.

Bound by a shared obsession with the string quartet repertoire and 20th and 21st century music, they had their first "date" playing the intricate notes of Luc Brewaeys. It went so well they skipped the small talk and jumped straight into an adventurous musical ménage à quatre.

With the blessing of curious organisers and composers, Pieter, Veronique, Tony, and Francis will henceforth make their way as the Bowmore Quartet. A name that will remind them, in good times and bad, in sickness and health of that first date with Luc Brewaeys' "Bowmore" Quartet but also of their mission to think outside the box and prove that string instruments are capable of more than just beautifully bowed notes.

The Bowmore Quartet solemnly promises to devote itself wholeheartedly to the music of yesterday, today and tomorrow. To understand the great, well-known masterpieces of the last hundred years down to the smallest detail, to dust off forgotten gems and to commission brand new work and thus make the already gigantic string quartet heritage just a little bit more gigantic.
